MC , I just began playing this game , after thinking about it for a long time . I have dl the bt from ut , then using VLC media player to access the files . I would like to convert the files to another format ( specifically , so I can place them in itunes ) . I began looking around yesterday , as to how to do this . Do you have a short cut that you know of ? A site ,ect .
No worries if there is not , I'll figure it out , or get stuck ( like a pig ) . Thanks MC . Have a good weekend .

ps - How do I know that I am a seeder , after my dl ?

I'm not MC, but w/e

Just do nothing after downloading a file and you should automatically be seeding. You can keep the torrent file open indefinitely in your torrent client for seeding, and turn it on and off when you want to start or stop seeding. Most if not all torrent clients will show you a list of torrents you have available for seeding once you have downloaded something.

I use winamp to convert my shn and flac files for use in my ipod. The plugins you use to activate this functionality in winamp are all available on etree.org. There are two separate plugins for flac and shn. Alternatively you can browse with winamp forums for info.

edit to add: I should clarify that I use winamp to convert flacs and shns to WAV files, which I then add to iTunes and then use iTunes to convert to mp3. There's probably a faster way to do this directly from FLAC/SHN to MP3, but it's become so routine for me this way that I have not sought out another method. And all this is free software. Check out this website for a step by step guide for flac to mp3. It uses older versions of the iTunes and winamp software as their examples, but it still works very similarly in the updated versions.

I reread my post and realized that I was leaving out the important step of converting the WAV to MP3. I do this procedure so often it has become second nature and I didn't think about it completely. Hence the edit. Is that what you mneant by gap in posting? And when I posted the link where I originally got the information years ago, I saw that in the interim MC had posted the same link below. Oh well, just trying to help.

Oh now I see what you mean by gap in posting, you mean from 2006 to 2010. I could tell you I was doing hard time for trying to smuggle 40 punds of weed over the mexican border. But while that would make for an amusing diversion, it would be a lie.

The truth is I downloaded so much material from the archive before soundboards went streaming only that I did not have much interest in streaming. And my interest in searching through the dross for quality auds was limited. So I just didn't come here very much. I was lurking now and then and became tempted by all the wonderful upgrades made available over the years. And finally couldn't resist joining in the fun once again here on the forums. I regret my initial outburst upon returning but I am a highly emotional individual. I'll try to keep it in check in the future.

It wouldn't be too credible either, as it doesn't seem like it's too difficult to get away with smuggling 40 pounds of whatever ...

if you are on a mac, use this (free) software:

Traders Little Helper, my friend...free...email if necessary and I'll go on. And on. Ask Rob about this problem. Shutting me up, that is.
